Athlete of the Month: Dominique Williams, Forward

For the month of January the Athletic Department is happy to announce, Freshman Forward Dominique Williams as our Athlete of the Month.  Dominique, or better known as Dom is a Freshman Criminal Justice major from Upper Darby who has started in 11 games this season, and has scored 191 points this season.  Williams averages 17 points a game and 5 rebounds per game.  Another impressive stat that Williams has added to her repertoire, is she has had 42 steals so far this season.

Williams says that she started playing basketball at the young age of five with her older brother, Malique in the basement at her house.  She says that she loved playing basketball because it has always kept her out of trouble and motivated to keep playing.  Williams says that she made the decision to come to Manor College because she was not ready for a Division I level of basketball, and knew that Manor was the perfect place for her to practice and get ready for the next level. Also, Williams says that she really enjoyed talking with Head Women's Basketball coach, Robert Reeves and that that Coach Rob gave her good news and positive outlook on her basketball career.

Williams says that she has enjoyed playing basketball at Manor so far and says, "I have enjoyed becoming close to my teammates, meeting new people, and just becoming a better leader on the floor and also transitioning into a point guard."

With 13 more games left in their regular season, the Lady Jays are currently 8-3, having a very good year.  Looking forward to the rest of the season, Williams is hoping to continue to improve her skills as she is transitioning from being a forward to a point guard, and would like to improve her game mentality.

We wish the best of luck to Williams as she continues her academic and athletic career at Manor.
