CCBC-Catonsville in the Season and Home Opener
Cardinals spoil the Blue Jays' first game of the season

JENKINTOWN, PA—CCBC-Catonsville (2-1-0) freshmen Eddy Fossung and Hymad N'Diaye each registered a hat trick and an assist in an 8-5 victory over Manor College (0-1-0) in a non-conference matchup.
The Blue Jays took an early 2-1 lead on goals by sophomore midfielder Dashan Santiago (Philadelphia, PA/George Washington) (unassisted) and freshman forward Phedel Saye (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast), who was assisted by freshman midfielder Hussein Shnati (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast). The Cardinals took the lead for good on consecutive goals by Fossung in the 33rd and 36th minutes. CCBC-Catonsville, who are in Region XX, led at halftime, 3-2.
The Cardinals scored three straight goals in the second half for a 6-2 lead. N'Diaye registered his first two goals of the game in the 46th and 58th minutes on assists by freshman Joseph Sefoi and Fossung, respectively. Fossung completed the hat trick in the 63rd minute, with an assist by freshman Hassan Jwao. The Blue Jays ended the run of five straight Cardinals' goals in the 67th minute on a tally by freshman forward Arthur Greenwood (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia Academy Charter), with an assist by freshman midfielder Eddy Rangel (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge). After CCBC-Catonsville extended the lead to 7-3 in the 78th minute, Manor answered with two quick goals within two minutes. Freshman forward Adin Hernandez (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) and sophomore midfielder Kevin Rodriguez (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) scored in the 78th and 80th, respectively, to close the gap to 7-5. Hernandez and Rodriguez were assisted by Greenwood and Shnati (his second of the game), respectively. N'Diaye completed the hat trick and the scoring in the 85th minute, with an assist by Jwao (his second of the game). Altogether, both teams combined for eight second-half goals and 13 for the game.
The loss split the season series at 1-1-0. Manor defeated CCBC-Catonsville, 4-2 on the road on October 13, 2015 in the first meeting between the two schools.
Since joining the NJCAA in 2008 Manor are 4-4-1 in season and home openers. Manor are 3-3-1 in season and home openers under head coach John Dempster. The last time the Blue Jays won the first overall and home game of the season was on August 29, 2013 when they shutout Bucks County Community College, 3-0.
This the first time Manor has scored five or more goals in a season and home opener since joining the NJCAA. They registered four versus Gloucester County College (now Rowan College at Gloucester County) on September 10, 2009 (4-0 win). Before the Blue Jays joined the NJCAA, they tallied six versus Reading Area Community College on September 8, 2007 (6-1 victory). The 13 combined goals in a season and home opener are the most since records were kept in 2005.
