MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS USCAA DIVISION I FIVE TOWNS COLLEGE ON THE ROAD

DIX HILLS, NY—Manor College (11-4 overall) senior forward Cheikh Diagne (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) led both teams with a season-high 24 points, career-high 14 rebounds (including a career-high 13 defensive), and career-high tying five steals and as the eighth-ranked (tied) USCAA Division I Blue Jays defeated the USCAA Division I Five Towns Sound (6-15), 98-69.

Five Towns took its biggest leads early in the first half.  Freshman guard Angel Redding's layup gave the Sound an 8-4 lead with 15:24 left.  Junior guard Naejon gave Five Towns a 10-6 with 14:13 remaining.  This was part of a Sound 10-2 run between 17:21 and 14:13 left (a 3:08 stretch).  Manor retook the lead, 13-12 on senior forward Bryce Nwobu's (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) layup with 12:41 remaining.  Nwobu's layup gave the Blue Jays a 20-14 lead with 10:31 left.  This was part of a 14-2 run between 13:58 and 10:31 remaining (a 3:27 stretch).  Five Towns took its last lead, 25-24, on a senior guard Tayron Bangs three-point basket with 6:46 left.  Manor took the lead for good, 26-25, on Diagne's tip-in with 5:59 remaining.  Bangs' layup with 4:50 left would get the Sound within, 31-29.  The Blue Jays embarked on a 15-2 run between 4:37 and 1:02 remaining (a 3:35 stretch) and they took a 46-31 lead on senior guard Tyray Cooper's (Baltimore, MD/Woodlawn) layup.  Manor took its first double-digit lead during this run, 41-31, on Diagne's layup with 2:05 left.  The Blue Jays took its largest first-half lead, 50-34, which was also the halftime score, on Diagne's layup with about 0:21 remaining.  Manor finished the final 4:37 on a 19-5 run.  This is the eighth time overall (third on the road) Manor has scored 50 or more points in any half this season and the third in the first half.  They also previously scored 50 in the first half at USCAA Division II and Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) foe Central College at Pennsboro Middle School in Enola, Pennsylvania on December 17, 2025.  This is the ninth time overall (fourth on the road) that the Blue Jays led by double-digits at halftime this season and the seventh time in the last eight games.  Diagne led both teams with 15 first-half points and Cooper and Nwobu scored 12 points each.  Freshman guard Khamari Broomfield paced Five Towns and both benches with 10 first-half points.

Manor expanded and broke the game open in the second half.  The Blue Jays opened up a 55-34 lead with 19:17 left on Roach's layup.  Manor led 61-35 on Cooper's layup and free throw with 15:17 remaining.  In the first 4:57 of the second half, the Blue Jays outscored the Sound, 11-1.  Sophomore Nissir Cook's (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia Academy Charter) layup and free throw gave the Blue Jays a 67-37 lead with 14:14 left.  Diagne's layup with 11:03 remaining gave Manor a 76-41 lead.  Junior forward Deacon Linder's (Philadelphia, PA/Hardy Williams Academy [Mastery]) tip-in gave Manor a 78-43 lead with 10:24 remaining. Manor outscored Five Towns 28-9 in the first 9:36 of the second half.  Junior guard Manny Roach's (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) free throw with 6:26 left gave the Blue Jays an 88-48 lead.  Cook's layup with 5:30 gave Manor its largest lead of the game, 92-50.  The Blue Jays outscored the Sound in the first 14:30 of the second half, 42-16.  Manor outscored Five Towns in the second half, 48-35.  This is the fifth time overall (third on the road) that the Blue Jays outscored its opponents by double-digits in the second-half and the fourth time in the last five games.  Cook and Roach led both teams with 10 second-half points each.

This is the third time overall that Manor has defeated a USCAA Division I team and first on the road.

Defensively, this is the third consecutive game that the Blue Jays have allowed 69 or fewer points.  This is the first time Manor has done this as an USCAA member.  The Blue Jays previously allowed 69 or fewer points in three straight games when they accomplished this four consecutive games between February 9 and February 18, 2018 when they were NJCAA Region XIX Division II members.

Manor has won three consecutive games overall and seven out of eight after starting the season 4-3.

Statistical Leaders: In addition to Diagne, Nwobu contributed 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.  Cooper added 18 points and led both teams with six assists. Roach contributed 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and paced both squads with a season-high three blocked shots.. Cook led the Blue Jays off the benches with 16 points. He paced both benches with nine rebounds.

Broomfield led Five Towns and both benches with 17 points. Curtis Redding added 11 points and paced the Sound with 13 rebounds and two blocked shots. Angel Redding also scored 11 points.  Junior guard Tyrese Grant contributed 10 points.  Junior guard Marvin Reed led Five Towns and both benches with four steals.

Countdown to 1,203: Roach has 1,079 career points in 54 games.  He needs 124 points to pass Aaron Brown for the most career points by a Blue Jay.  Brown scored 1,202 in 44 games between the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons when Manor was competing in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC).
