MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL WINS REGULAR SEASON AND HOME OPENER VERSUS PENN STATE-LEHIGH VALLEY

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (1-0) senior forward Bryce Nwobu (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) led the Blue Jays with 24 points and both teams with 14 rebounds as the Blue Jays defeated the Pennsylvania State University-Nittany Lions (1-1), 103-92, in its home and regular season openers.

Neither team led by as much as four points in the first half.  Freshman guard Emmanuel Kenyi's layup with 16:50 left gave Lehigh Valley an early 6-2 lead.  After senior forward Cheikh Diagne's (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) layup tied the game at six with under 15 minutes remaining, the rest of the first half saw five more ties and 19 lead changes.  Nwobu's free throw with about six minutes left in the first half gave Manor its largest first half lead, 32-28.  Sophomore guard Kyle John's layup gave the Nittany Lions its final lead of the game, 42-40.  Manor took the lead for good, 44-42, with about 30 seconds left on Nwobu's acrobatic steal which led to senior guard Tyray Cooper's (Baltimore, MD/Woodlawn) layup. Manor led at halftime, 44-42.  Lehigh Valley sophomore guard Manny Polanco came off the bench and led both teams with 12 points.  Nwobu paced Manor with 11 points.  Cooper scored 10 points for the Blue Jays.

Manor added to its lead in the second half.  The Blue Jays got its first double-digit lead, 56-46. With 16:22 remaining on Nwobu's free throws.  After sophomore center Nissir Cook's (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia Academy Charter) layup gave Manor a 69-60 lead with 11:15 left, Lehigh Valley closed the deficit to 69-67 with 9:38 remaining on John's jump shot.  Junior forward Deacon Linder's (Philadelphia, PA/Hardy Williams Academy [Mastery]) layup with  8:31 left gave the Blue Jays a 75-67 advantage, but the Nittany Lions got within two points for a second time, 75-73, with 6:51 remaining on Kenyi's free throws. After Linder's free throws extended Manor's lead with 6:33 left, Kenyi's layup with 6:18 remaining got Lehigh Valley within 77-75.  The Blue Jays took its second double-digit lead of the second half, 93-82, with 2:54 left on junior guard Manny Roach's (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) jump shot and a third, 97-86, with 0:50.1 remaining on sophomore guard Ihsan Beyah's (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Wood) free throws. The Blue Jays took its largest leads (99-86, 0:38.4; 101-88. 0:28.2; and 103-90, 0:19.2) on Roach's free throws.   Manor outscored the Lehigh Valley in the second half, 59-50. Dating back to the 2024-2025 season, this was the second consecutive game that the Blue Jays scored 50 or more points in the second half and the fifth time in the last six games. Kenyi led both teams with 20 points.  He scored 17 of the last 22 Nittany Lions' points in the second half.  John added 11 points for Lehigh Valley. Nwobu led Manor with 13 points.  Diagne and Linder scored 10 points apiece for the Blue Jays..

Statistical Leaders: In addition to Nwobu, every Blue Jay player that played scored in double figures, Diagne (19), Cook (15 off the bench), Roach (13), Beyah (career-high 12), and Cooper and Linder (10 apiece).  Roach led both teams with nine assists.

Four Nittany Lions scored in double-figures: Kenyi (24), Polanco (20 off the bench) John (14), and sophomore guard Gabe Mileto (11).  John led Lehigh Valley with 10 rebounds.  Polanco and senior guard/forward C.J. Santos led the Nittany Lions with four assists each.

Blue Jays in Regular Season Openers (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 4-1 overall (3-0 at home) in regular season openers since the 2021-2022 season.

Manor in Home Openers (Since 2021-2022): Manor is 4-1 in home openers, including three straight wins, since the 2021-2022 season.  They previously won three straight home openers between the 2014 and 2017 seasons when they won four straight.

Blue Jays Continue Its Winning Ways: Dating back to the 2024-2025 season the Blue Jays have won 10 straight overall and 14 of its last 15 games.  The 10 consecutive wins surpasses the five straight they won between November 20 and December 15, 2024.  The Blue Jays previously won nine straight overall from January 14 to February 15, 2017 when they were NJCAA Region XIX Division II members.

Manor Continues to Win in Double-Figures (Since 2021-2022):  Dating back to the 2024-2025 season, Manor has won nine of its last 10 games overall by double-digits.  They won in double figures nine times overall (five at home) during the 2024-2025 season.  The Blue Jays have won in double-figures 22 times overall (17 at home) since the 2021-2022 season.

Manor Leading at Halftime (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 1-0 overall (1-0 at home) when leading at halftime this season, including nine straight wins dating back to last season.  They were 11-2 overall (5-2 at home, including five straight wins) during the 2024-225 season when leading at halftime, including eight consecutive wins.   Manor is 29-8 overall (16-5 at home) when leading at halftime since joining the USCAA.  

Reaching the Century Mark: The Blue Jays scored 100 points for the first time this season and the eighth since joining the USCAA for the 2021-2022. They are 6-2 overall (6-1 at home) in these contests, including six straight wins.  Dating back to back the 2024-2025 season the Blue Jays have scored 100 or more points in consecutive games for the first time since joining the USCAA.  They previously scored 100 points in consecutive games on November 20 and 27, 2019 when they were NJCAA Region XIX Division II members.

Manor at Home (Since 2021-2022): Manor is 1-0 at home this season and have won six straight dating back to last season.  The Blue Jays were  6-2 at home, including five straight wins, during the 2024-2025 season..  They are 22-9 since the 2021-2022 season. The six straight home wins are the most since they won four during their 2021-2022 USCAA debut season (December 13, 2021-January 26, 2022).

Season Series (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 2-0 overall (2-0 at home) versus the Nittany Lions since the 2021-2022 season.

Manor versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities (Since 2021-2022): Manor is 1-0 overall (1-0 at home) this season versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities.  Manor was 8-3 overall (3-2 at home) last season and 25-19 overall (12-6 at home) versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities since 2021-2022. 

Manor Versus USCAA Division II Schools (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 1-0 overall (1-0 at home) versus USCAA Division II schools this season.  They were 9-3 overall last season (6-2 at home) and 26-18 overall (15-6 at home) versus USCAA Division II schools since 2021-2022.

Manor Versus the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (Since 2021-2022): Manor is 1-0 overall (1-0 at home) versus the PSUAC this season.  They are 2-3 overall (2-0 at home) since 2021-2022.

Next Game: The Blue Jays open its defense of their 2024-2025 Eastern States Athletic Conference Championship with its road opener versus the USCAA Division II Bucks County Community College Centurions on Tuesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium in Newtown, Pennsylvania.  Manor split its regular season games versus Bucks County (lost 99-89 on November 19, 2024 in Jenkintown and won 89-76 on January 23, 2025 in Newtown) before winning the ESAC Postseason Championship, 103-80, on March 1, 2025 in Jenkintown.  They are 4-5 overall (2-2 away) versus the Centurions since 2021-2022.  Manor is 18-13 overall (8-6 away) versus the ESAC since 2021-2022.  The Blue Jays are 2-2 in road openers since 2021-2022.  Manor was 7-2 on the road during the 2024-2025 season and enters this season with a 14-12 road won-loss record since 2021-2022.

Next Home Game: Manor hosts the NCAA Division III and United East Conference member University of Valley Forge Patriots on Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at the Gymnasium in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays defeated the Patriots, 94-86, on November 21, 2024 at The Pit in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Manor leads the season series, 2-0 overall (1-0 at home).  This will be Manor's final game before Thanksgiving.  Manor previously hosted Valley Forge on November 15, 2023 and won 88-82 in overtime.  The Blue Jays are 4-1 overall (1-0 at home) versus NCAA Division III schools since 2021-2022.  They are 4-2 overall (1-0 at home) versus NCAA schools since 2021-2022.
