MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL DEFEATED IN GAME TWO OF A HOME DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS PENN STATE UNIVERSITY-FAYETTE

NEWTOWN, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pennsylvania State University-Fayette (2-10) freshman designated hitter Brogan Meighen went two-for-two (including a double) with a run scored and a RBI and second-year starting pitcher Ashton Ray (1-1) struck out seven as the Nittany Lions defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (0-4), 5-2, in four innings, in game one of its home opening doubleheader at Brian Seibert Memorial Field at Bucks County Community College.

The Nittany Lions opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first.  Freshman shortstop Connor Perry led off the game with a single and stole second.   Perry advanced to third with none out on a passed ball.  First year right fielder Tyler Marra walked.  Second year first baseman Remington Leeson reached second on an error, scoring Perry and Marra advanced to second on the play.  Marra advanced to third on another passed ball.  Second year second baseman Frank Macione's ground out, second to first, scored Marra, and Leeson advanced to third on the play.   

Fayette completed its scoring with three runs in the third.  Freshman second baseman Hunter Smiley was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced to second on a passed ball.  Freshman Louis Vilchez reached on a fielder's choice to third.  Freshman center fielder Joshua Gonzalez reached on a fielder's choice, second to short, moving Smiley to third.  Gonzalez advanced to second on a passed ball.  Meighan's outfield single to second scored Smiley and Gonzalez.  Meighan advanced to second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch. Freshman left fielder Jonathan Vasbinder walked.  Vasbinder stole second and advanced to third and Meighan scored on an error on the play.

Manor scored in the bottom half of the third.  Freshman catcher Joshua Fonseca (Queens, NY/Jamaica) singled to right field with one out.  Junior center fielder Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) advanced freshman courtesy runner Emiliano Hernandez (Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico/Cobaej) to third on a two-out single to center field.  Hernandez scored the Blue Jays' first run on a Ray wild pitch.

The Blue Jays finished its scoring in the bottom of the fourth.  Freshman second baseman Brandy Torres (Philadelphia, PA/Excel Academy South) led off with a walk.  Freshman first baseman Nate Perez (Newark, NJ/Donald M. Payne School of Technology) doubled to left field, scoring Torres, and advanced to third on an error.

The game was called after four innings due to darkness.

Batting Leaders: Perez doubled and walked and contributed a RBI.

Perry scored a run, singled, walked twice, and stole two bases..

Pitching Leaders: Junior Charlie Levy (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) (0-2) started and pitched four innings. 

Ray also pitched a complete game.

Manor Multiple Run Games: Levy (1).

Season Series (Since 2024): The Blue Jays are 0-2 overall (0-2 at home) versus Fayette.

Next Games: Manor is scheduled to play a road doubleheader versus Pennsylvania State University-Scranton Nittany Lions (2-9) on Saturday, March 21 at Noon at Matt McGloin Baseball Field in Dunmore, Pennsylvania.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Next Home Games: The Blue Jays are scheduled to play a home doubleheader versus the Patrick Henry Sentinels (0-4) on Saturday, March 28 at Noon at Roslyn Park in Abington, Pennsylvania.  The Sentinels swept a doubleheader in its initial season series games versus the Blue Jays on April 13, 2024, 18-6 (in five innings) and 14-9, at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.
