MEDIA, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Williamson College of the Trades (1-0 overall, 1-0 Eastern States Athletic Conference) junior right fielder Hagan Nagle's two-out sixth inning, go-ahead infield lifted the Mechanics over the Manor College Blue Jays (0-1, 0-1), 2-1 in game one of a doubleheader in the regular season and ESAC openers for both teams.
This doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.
Manor opened the scoring in the first inning on a freshman shortstop Dominic Innis (Nassau, Bahamas/Home School) leadoff walk and advanced to second on sophomore center fielder Lucky Lindley (Montclair, VA/Forest Park). Freshman outfielder Will Murray (West Hampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) doubled with one out to junior left fielder Ramone Sanchez off of senior starting pitcher Jacob Naumann, scoring Innis. Sanchez and Naumann reached on consecutive walks and Sanchez stole third with one out. However, junior first baseman Daniel Gross flew out to Lindley and senior third baseman Zachary Ladislaw popped out to Innis to end the inning.
The Blue Jays had baserunners in every inning and had runners in scoring position in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Mechanics also had baserunners in third through sixth innings. Senior catcher Shane McLaughlin led off the third inning with a walk, but was caught stealing second by freshman catcher Shawn Navas (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy). Naumann led off the fourth with a walk, but was erased on a fielder's choice at second base off the bat of Ladislaw. Ladislaw was caught stealing second by Shawn Navas to end the inning. Junior shortstop Phil Martini led off the fifth with a walk, advanced to second on Nagle's sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a junior second baseman Cole Locklear ground out to second. However, McLaughlin was called out on strikes to end the inning.
Williamson scored its runs in the sixth. Senior starting pitcher Cidrick Navas (Levittown, PA/Samuel Fels) struck out freshman pinch-hitter Dominic DePoulter to lead off the inning. Sanchez doubled to left, breaking up Cidrick Navas' 5 ⅓-inning no-hit bid, and Naumann walked. Gross reached on a fielding error, scoring Sanchez, tying the game at one, and Naumann advanced to third on the play. Gross stole second and Ladislaw then walked. Cidrick Navas struck out Martini for the second out. Nagle's infield single deflected on the left side of the infield, scoring Baumann for the go-ahead run.
Batting Leaders: Shawn Navas went two-for-three and threw out two of the three baserunners attempting to steal off of him.
Sanchez doubled and walked in three plate appearances and stole a base. Naumann walked three times for Williamson.
Pitching Leaders: Cidrick Navas (0-1) no-hit and shutout the Mechanics for 5 ⅓ innings before Sanchez broke it up the no-hit bid with a double and Gross reaching on a fielding error which broke the shutout. Cidrick Navas struck out six and allowed two hits.
