MEDIA, PA—Manor College (2-10) freshman starting pitcher-second baseman Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) went two-for-three (including a double) with four stolen bases, three runs scored, three RBI, two walks, and struck out five in four innings as the Blue Jays defeated the Williamson College of the Trades Mechanics (9-9), 16-13.

Williamson is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

The Blue Jays opened up the scoring with three runs in the top of the first inning.  Freshman center fielder Abdur Rauf-Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a freshman starting pitcher Bryan Archambo wild pitch.  Romero followed with a walk and stolen base.  Freshman shortstop Sauriel Baez' (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) double to center scored Mujahid and Romero.  Baez moved to second on another Archambo wild pitch.  Freshman Abimael Mercado's (Philadelphia, PA/Juan Ponce De Leon [PR]) single to left scored Baez with one out.

After a scoreless first inning, the Mechanics took the lead in the bottom in the bottom of the second, sending 11 hitters to the plate, including the first six to reach safely, and scored seven runs.  Senior left fielder Blaze Puzzangara contributed a none-out, two-RBI double to left, junior infielder-relief pitcher Mike Naumann stole home, junior shortstop Jeremei Ortiz added a one-out, RBI single to right, and senior first baseman James Muscarella contributed a bases-clearing double to center.

Manor took its first lead with a five-run fourth inning.  They also sent 10 hitters to the plate.  Freshman right fielder-catcher Samuel Pena (Philadelphia, PA/Liceo Vespertino Pedro MIR [DR]) led off the inning on a Naumann error and stole second.  Freshman third baseman Jorge Reyes' (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) double to right scored Pena.  Freshman right fielder Francis Beras (Philadelphia, PA/Mariana Bracetti) reached on an Ortiz throwing error which advanced Reyes to third on the play.  Mujahid's double to right scored Reyes and Beras.  Mujahid stole third and scored on Romero's single to center.  Romero stole second and third and scored on freshman first baseman Hector Morales' (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) single to left with one out which also knocked Archambo out of the game.  Muscarella's one-out home run to left tied the game at eight in the bottom of the fourth. 

The Blue Jays took the lead for good with a six-run sixth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate.  Baez led off inning, reaching on Ortiz' fielding error.  Freshman center fielder-right fielder Courtney Maddox-Kent (Philadelphia, PA/Edison) one-out double to left moved Baez to third.  Freshman left fielder Trevor Schmanek (Philadelphia, PA/St. Joseph's Prep) was intentionally walked to load the bases.  Pena's sacrifice fly to freshman center fielder Konstantinos Karros scored Baez with two out.  Reyes' single to right scored Maddox-Kent and advanced Schmanek to third on the play.  Reyes stole second and scored (along with Schmanek) on freshman relief pitcher Jeffrey Salcedo's (Philadelphia, PA/Mariana Bracetti) single to left.  Mujahid's double to left moved Salcedo to third.  Romero's double to left scored Salcedo and Mujahid and knocked Baumann out of the game.  The Mechanics scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a one-out Archambo sacrifice fly to Romero and Naumann two-out single to left.

Manor added to its advantage in the top of the seventh.  Facing junior relief pitcher Erik Coyle, Maddox-Kent reached on a one-out, Ortiz throwing error.  Maddox-Kent stole second and advanced to third on Archambo.  Schmanek's single to left scored Maddox-Kent.  Schmanek went to third on Coyle's throwing error on a pickoff attempt.  Pena's two-out, sacrifice fly to junior center fielder C.J. Cardell, his second of the game, scored Schmanek.  Williamson rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs.  The Mechanics scored on a one-out, Muscarella single to left and a Manor error on the play and a two out, Archambo sacrifice fly to Mujahid.  However, the game ended when Puzzangara grounded into a fielder choice, Romero to Baez, with the tying run on deck.

Batting Leaders: Mujahid went three-for-four (including two doubles), with three runs scored, three stolen bases, two RBI, and a walk.  Reyes went three-for-five (including a double), with two runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases.  Baez scored two runs and knocked in two.  Pena and Salcedo had two RBI each.  Maddox-Kent scored two runs and stole a base for the Blue Jays.

Muscarella went three-for-five (including a double and a home run), five RBI and three runs scored for the Mechanics. 

Pitching Leaders: Salcedo (1-2) won the game in relief, striking out two in three innings.

Naumann (0-1) took the loss in relief for the Mechanics.

Next Game: Manor plays NJCAA Division and EPAC Division III Delaware County Community College (4-8-1 Overall, 2-2-1 NJCAA Region XIX Division III, 2-1-1 EPAC) on Thursday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Media Pennsylvania.  This was originally scheduled as the season opener on March 15, but it was postponed due to inclement weather.  It was rescheduled for April 2, but, it was postponed again due to inclement weather.
